Suspects, Prospects and Leads
In order to better understand the customer journey, it is important to clarify the different stages in the sales funnel:
Suspect
A suspect is a person who through their behavior - for example social media interactions, or website visitors - is assumed to have an interest in yourbrand, but have not yet expressed an interest (such as submitting a form).
Prospect
As previously mentioned, a prospect is a potential customer who has already shown interest in the brand, but who has not yet identified their needs. That is, they have a fit in the company, but have not yet expressed interest in a purchase.
Lead
A lead refers to anyone who has ever interacted with your brand, showing interest in your products or services, suchas filling out a form.
